MAAC Announces Swimming & Diving Weekly Award Honorees

Men’s Swimmer of the Week:
Marin de Villard, Canisius
Fr., Biarritz, FranceSaint Felix School
 
Freshman swimmer De Villard continued his dominant stretch to open the season, picking up wins in the 100 back (51.34) and 200 back (1:53.67) at Binghamton. He had a second-place finish in the 200 IM (1:59.13) as well as his 200 Medley relay team placing in second, with de Villard leading the relay off with a 23.95 split in the backstroke.
 
Men’s Diver of the Week:
Marcas Racevicius, Rider
Sr., Watertown, CTHoly Cross High School
 
Racevicius scored 255.68 on the 3-meter and 236.09 on the 1-meter in Rider's dual win over Villanova.
 
Women’s Swimmer of the Week:
Alaina Pitton, Niagara
Fr., Portland, OR, Jesuit High School

Pitton won the 200 and 100 free with times of 1:55.32 and 52.09. Pitton clocks in the top time in the MAAC in the 100, number three in the 200, top time in the 100 breast (1:02.33) which is also #12 mid major and #80 in DI. 
 
Women’s Diver of the Week:
Talia Spenziero, Siena
Sr., Clifton Park, NY, Shenendehowa
Senior diver Talia Spenziero won both the one-meter (262.85) and three-meter (257.85) diving events against New Hampshire, coming just under three points away from qualifying for NCAA Zone Regionals in one-meter.
 
The 2024 MAAC Men's & Women's Swimming & Diving Championships is a four-day meet that will take place February 14-17, 2024 at SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio. The 2024 championships will be the first time the meet is held at SPIRE Institute. Current conference members include: Canisius University, Fairfield University, Iona University, Manhattan College, Marist College, Mount St. Mary’s University, Niagara University, Quinnipiac University, Rider University, Saint Peter’s University, and Siena College. Merrimack College and Sacred Heart University will join the MAAC as full members in the 2024-25 academic year, expanding the conference to 13 institutions.
