Junior Tyler Long had an impressive offensive debut to the season, tallying eight hits in 11 at bats and three walks, notching a .727 batting average to help the Mount to a 3-0 opening weekend. He posted an OBP of .813, scored five times, recorded two doubles, and earned an RBI.
Pitcher of the Week
Jeff Davis, Mount St. Mary's
Fr., Bethesda, MD, St. Alban’s
Freshman Jeff Davis recorded a win and a save this weekend versus the Longwood Lancers to help the Mount to a 3-0 record. In his win, Davis pitched two scoreless innings and notched two strikeouts. In his save, Davis closed the final two outs of the ninth with consecutive strikeouts.
Rookie of the Week
Clayton Poliey, Rider
Fr., Ringwood, NJ, Don Bosco Prep
Clayton Poliey came out of the pen for his first career outing and was stellar, pitching 5.1 innings in relief allowing just one run on two hits to earn the victory. He struck out five and did not walk a single batter.
