Siena’s Stewart & Canisius’ Duffy Earn Rawlings MAAC Baseball Weekly Honors

Player of the Week / Rookie of the Week
Aiden Stewart, Siena
Fr., Victor, NY, McQuaid Jesuit

Siena’s Aiden Stewart hit a whopping .467 with a .600 on-base percentage, 1.067 slugging percentage, and an incredible 1.667 OPS spanning a five-game week for the Saints. The freshman second baseman homered twice, drove in 12 runs, scored eight times, and was on base 15 times thanks to seven hits and eight walks. He registered three multi-RBI, two multi-hit, and a pair of multiple runs scored contests. He also played error-free defense at the keystone, while registering 10 assists and six putouts. On Tuesday, Stewart hit the go-ahead two-run single with two outs in the seventh to rally Siena past defending NEC Champion LIU out on Long Island. On Wednesday, he was on base in all five of his plate appearances, going a perfect 3-for-3 with a pair of walks, a home run, and career-highs of six RBI and four runs scored while finishing just a double shy of the cycle in a non-conference win over Dartmouth. He capped the week by igniting an 11-run eighth inning rally Sunday at Iona, with a home run to lead off the decisive frame. Stewart was on-base four times and scored three runs in the contest, sparking Siena to rally to secure a three-win week - exactly half the win total the team had all season entering the week.

Stewart is the first-ever Siena Baseball freshman to be named both the MAAC Player and Rookie of the Week in the same week and is the program’s first freshman to earn MAAC Player of the Week honors since Dan Paolini on Mar. 16, 2009. Stewart also becomes the first MAAC freshman to win both MAAC Player and Rookie of the Week honors in the same week since Nick Cimillo of Manhattan on Mar. 5, 2019.

Pitcher of the Week
Matt Duffy, Canisius
Jr., Burlington, Ontario, Assumption Catholic Secondary

Canisius junior, Matt Duffy, earned his fourth conference victory in as many starts Friday, striking out 11 in six innings of work in Canisius' 7-6 win over Quinnipiac. Duffy allowed just two runs, one of which was earned, on four hits and two walks. The third-year pitcher has had a quality start in all four appearances against league opponents while fanning 10 batters-or-more in three of those games.
