MAAC Player of the Week, Brian Hart, had an impressive week against Fordham and Iona. Hart slashed a .500 batting average (8-16). Hart tallied 11 RBIs, two doubles, three walks, and two home runs in the week. Hart finished the week with a .579 on base percentage and a 1.000 Slugging percentage. The graduate student hit a grand slam in the rubber match against Iona which led the Red Foxes to a 3-1 week.
Pitcher of the Week
Matt Duffy, Canisius
Jr., Burlington, Ontario, Assumption Catholic Secondary
MAAC Pitcher of the Week, Matt Duffy, struck out a career-high 14 batters and allowed just one hit over seven shutout innings on the mound in Canisius' 15-0 victory over Saint Peter's in the series opener on April 28. Duffy struck out double-digit batters for the fifth time in 10 appearances this season, and his lone hit surrendered was a leadoff single in the top of the sixth. His 14 strikeouts fell just one shy of matching the program record for most K's in a game. The performance also increased his career strikeout total to 238, moving into second place on the program's all-time list.
Rookie of the Week
Bayram Hot, Marist
Fr., Sunnyside, NY, Archbishop Molloy
Bayram Hot slashed a .438 batting average and a .526 on base percentage on the week against Fordham and Iona. Hot tallied seven hits, two RBIS, two walks, and a stolen base in four games. The freshman helped lead the Red Foxes to a 3-1 record on the week and a MAAC series win. Hot earns Rookie of the Week honors for the third time this season.
