Fairfield’s Pagliarini Named NEIBA Player of the Year; Seven MAAC Players Selected to All- NEIBA Teams

BOSTON, MA (June 2, 2023) – Fairfield University Baseball senior infielder Charlie Pagliarini was named the New England Intercollegiate Baseball Association (NEIBA) Player of the Year while seven total Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) student-athletes were selected to Divisions I All-New England Teams.

Pagliarini had the best offensive season in school history, breaking six single season program records including: home runs (24), RBI (97), total bases (177), slugging percentage (.851), on-base percentage (.528), and walks (49). He won the conference's Triple Crown with his .399 batting average to go along with his league-leading home runs and RBI. He shattered the conference's single-season record in RBI that had stood for over a decade, besting the mark by 16. He also ranked towards the top in the country in several of those categories including leading the nation in RBI per game at 1.76. Overall, his 97 RBI was second in the NCAA behind only Maryland's Nick Lorusso. He was fourth in the country in slugging percentage, seventh in total bases, and ranked eighth in both home runs and slugging percentage. For his success, he was named a Collegiate Baseball Newspaper All-American Third Team, the MAAC Player of the Year as well as earning a spot on the All-MAAC First Team. Pagliarini becomes Fairfield’s first player in program history to earn NEIBA Player of the Year.

Joining Pagliarini on the Division I All-New England First Team were the Quinnipiac University duo of catcher Keegan O’Connor and outfielder Anthony Donofrio. Second Team selections included Fairfield’s catcher Ethan Hibbard, second baseman Mike Becchetti, and starting pitcher Colin McVeigh, and Quinnipiac’s starting pitcher Kevin Seitter.
