Canisius' Peltier and Strong Named to PGCBL Midseason All-Star Team

Canisius pitcher Tom Peltier and outfielder Jackson Strong were named to the 2023 Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League (PGCBL) Midseason All-Star Team, the league announced Thursday.

Peltier and Strong both play for the Niagara Power in the PGCBL, and they are two of 56 players across the league to be honored.

Peltier is 2-2 with a 1.82 ERA and 28 strikeouts in 24.2 innings of work this summer for the Power. In five starts on the hill, he has allowed just 16 hits, and only five of the nine runs scored against him have been earned.

Strong, an All-MAAC First Team selection in 2023, ranks second in the league with his .407 batting average. He also ranks second in the league with 35 hits, and he has drawn a league-best 16 walks. Strong has six doubles, a league-leading five triples and a homer to his credit to go along with 15 RBI and eight stolen bases.

All 16 organizations in the PGCBL are represented by at least one player on the all-star units. Honorees were chosen by the league's administration based on statistics from Opening Day through Wednesday, July 5.

The East Division All-Star team consists of two catchers, eight infielders, six outfielders, two designated hitter/utility players, and ten pitchers. The West is the same, however it contains one more DH/utility player and one less infielder.

The East-leading Amsterdam Mohawks lead the league with ten selections, followed by the Niagara Power with seven, the Elmira Pioneers with six, and then the Auburn Doubledays and Mohawk Valley DiamondDawgs with five honorees, each.
