Canisius' Consigli and Guiliano Named Appalachian League All-Stars

A pair of Canisius pitchers, Peyton Consigli and Justin Guiliano, have been named Appalachian League All-Stars, the league office announced today. Consigli will be on the East roster in the game, while Guiliano will represent the West All-Star squad. The duo are two of the circuit's top 44 players, as nominated and voted on by the league's managers.

The Appalachian League All-Star Game, hosted by the Kingsport Axmen and presented by Visit Kingsport, will be held at Hunter Wright Stadium in Kingsport, Tenn., on July 25 at 7 p.m. The game will be streamed live on MLB.com and MLB.tv.

Consigli, the 2022 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Relief Pitcher of the Year, is a member of the Bluefield Ridge Runners, located in Bluefield, W.Va. This summer, Consigli has made seven starts on the hill for the Ridge Runners, where he holds a record of 1-1 to go with a league-leading 37 strikeouts in 27.0 innings of work. For the Golden Griffins in 2023, Consigli went 1-1 on the mound and earned three saves in 13 appearances.

Guiliano, who pitches for the Johnson City Doughboys in Johnson City, Tenn., is 2-0 with a 1.99 ERA and 36 strikeouts in seven starts this season. He ranks second in the league in strikeouts, trailing only Consigli, and his .142 opponent batting average ranks second-best in the league, as well. For the Griffs in 2023, the Ellenville, N.Y., native went 3-2 with 41 strikeouts in 25.0 innings on the mound.

Forty-one of the 44 Appalachian League All-Star are from or committed to Division I schools, and Canisius is one of five college teams to have multiple players in the all-star game, joining Elon, West Virginia, Tennessee and UNC Asheville.
