Marist’s Ali, Niagara’s Cameron, and Siena’s Figueroa Earn Rawlings MAAC Baseball Weekly Honors

Marco Ali, Marist

Marco Ali had a dominant weekend in New York City against Columbia. Ali, over the three game series, batted a .615 average in three games. Ali tallied eight hits in 13 at bats with a walk. Ali recorded four doubles on the weekend and brought home three runs (3 RBIS). Ali only struck out once in the series. Ali scored four runs in the series against Columbia. In the final game of the series, Ali went 4-4 with a double and two RBIs. Ali slashed a .643 on base percentage and a .923 slugging.
 
Pitcher of the Week
Zach Cameron, Niagara
Gr., Ontario, Canada, Bishop Ryan
 
Cameron made just one appearance on the weekend out of the bullpen. He pitched 4.0 innings out of the pen in the third game of the weekend series. He walked just one while striking out eight batters over the four innings. He currently has a 0.82 ERA which is the best in the MAAC, opposing hitters are hitting just .094 against him which is also the best in the MAAC.
 
Rookie of the Week
Tyler Figueroa, Siena
Fr., Colonie, NY, Colonie Central
 
Figueroa hit an even .600 with a .692 on-base percentage and a whopping 1.292 OPS spanning the Saints three-game series over the weekend at UNC Asheville. He reached base safely at least twice in each game, registering at least a hit and a walk in every contest. Figueroa wrapped up the weekend by reaching base safely in all five plate appearances on Sunday, highlighted by his first collegiate four-hit game to go along with a walk. Through his first nine collegiate games, the freshman infielder is off to a .406 start at the plate with a 1.204 OPS, which currently ranks fourth and fifth in the MAAC, respectively, through the weekend.
