Quinnipiac’s DeRosa and the Fairfield Duo of McVeigh and Lussier Secure Rawlings MAAC Baseball Weekly Honors

Matt DeRosa had a big weekend for the Bobcats, batting .455 in 11 at-bats. DeRosa went 2-for-5 with three runs scored in Quinnipiac's 12-3 win over Iona in game one. In game two, DeRosa went 2-for4 with three RBIs and his first home run of the year. In the series finale, DeRosa drew two walks and finished 1-for-2 on the day with an RBI. DeRosa finished the weekend with a .533 on-base percentage and a .727 slugging percentage.
 
Pitcher of the Week
Colin McVeigh, Fairfield
Sr., Lansdale, PA, LaSalle
 
McVeigh tossed the best game of his career with eight innings, allowing just one run on one hit while striking out 14. He did not allow a hit until the seventh inning where he surrendered a leadoff single. McVeigh struck out the side three times and punched out seven of the game's first nine batters.
 
Rookie of the Week
Matt Lussier, Fairfield
Fr., Wellesley, MA, Dexter Southfield
 
Lussier batted .300 with a pair of homers and four RBI during Fairfield's series win against Canisius. He homered in each of Fairfield's wins and got a hit in every game.

Merrimack College and Sacred Heart University will join the MAAC as full members in the 2024-25 academic year, expanding the conference to 13 institutions.
