Iona’s Ragsdale, Rider’s Poliey, and Siena’s Figueroa Garner Rawlings MAAC Baseball Weekly Award Winners

Josiah Ragsdale, Iona

Josiah Ragsdale had a stellar week at the plate for the Iona University baseball team, batting .643 with a double, two triples, two home runs and four runs batted in. The sophomore center fielder boasted a .688 on-base percentage and a 1.429 slugging percentage in three games for the Maroon & Gold. Ragsdale opened the week with a 2-for-5 evening with a triple in the 5-4 setback to St. John’s on Wednesday. He followed that performance by hitting for the cycle in the 10-7 win over Villanova on Friday. Ragsdale’s afternoon against the Wildcats saw a single in the third, leadoff home run in the fourth, RBI double in the fifth before ending the day with an RBI triple to center field. He capped the weekend going 3-for-4 in the 9-8 loss on Saturday. Ragsdale’s leadoff home run in the fourth inning was his 100th career hit, reaching the mark in his 83rd career game.
 
Pitcher of the Week
Clayton Poliey, Rider
So., Ringwood, NJ, Don Bosco Prep
 
Poliey was huge for the Broncs in his game three start vs the Mount pitching 6.2 scoreless innings with 7 strikeouts in the Broncs win. Poliey also only allowed three hits in the contest as Rider took down the Mount 8-3.
 
Rookie of the Week
Tyler Figueroa, Siena
Fr., Colonie, NY, Colonie Central
 
Figueroa hit a whopping .545 with a .615 on-base percentage, .818 slugging percentage, and a 1.433 OPS last week for the Saints. The freshman second baseman registered at least one hit in all three games, while reaching base at least twice safely in each contest of the series vs. Manhattan in a balanced performance. Figueroa opened the series with a pair of hits including a home run, and in the Saints' Game Two victory, registered three hits and an RBI.
 
The 2024 MAAC Baseball Championship returns to Clover Stadium in Pomona, NY for the third straight season. The six-team double elimination championship, will take place from May 22-25. For all information regarding the 2024 MAAC Baseball Championship, please visit maacsports.com/baseball.
