Iona’s Trujillo and Sacred Heart’s Lacayo Named MAAC Student-Athletes of the Week

Pablo Lacayo, Sacred Heart, Men’s Golf
Jr./ Managua, Nicaragua, Colegio Centro America
 
Lacayo has been strong at the top of SHU's lineup this season, owning a 73.0 average. He has tallied one top-three finishes this year and four top 10s, including a ninth-place showing at the Sacred Heart Spring Break Invite to help lead the Pioneers to a comeback victory. The Pios, who were picked first in the MAAC Preseason Poll, own two wins this season, also claiming the Matthews Auto Collegiate Invitational, where Lacayo led the team in third. In addition to excelling on the course, the Managua, Nicaragua, owns an impressive cumulative GPA of 3.96.
 
Female Student-Athlete of the Week
Lola Trujillo, Iona, Women’s Water Polo
Jr./ Fulshear, TX, Foster High
 
In three games over the weekend, Trujillo scored three goals and added one assist. She is second on the team with goals, points, and leads the Gaels with 35 steals. Lola also went 9-0 on swim-offs increasing her season record to 39-2. Out of the pool Trujillo is a criminal justice major.
