Niagara’s Mauro and DelVecchio, Fairfield’s Colby Named MAAC Baseball Weekly Award Winners

Vincent Mauro, Niagara

Vincent Mauro had an impressive week for Niagara in a 4-0 week which included a weekend sweep over Saint Peter's. During the week, Mauro went 7-for-15 at the plate, hitting .467, with 10 RBI and six runs scored. Against SPU, he went 5-for-11 for a .455 batting average with eight RBI, two doubles, one home run and two walks in the series sweep.
 
Pitcher of the Week
Matthew DelVecchio, Niagara
Jr., San Marcos, CA, Edmonds College
 
Matthew DelVecchio went 1-0 in his start and shutout win over Saint Peter's. He threw 7.0 scoreless innings, striking out five batters and only allowing five hits in a 12-0 victory. DelVecchio allowed a .185 opponent hitting percentage and finished with a 0.00 ERA.
 
Rookie of the Week
Nolan Colby, Fairfield
Fr., Amherst, NH, Souhegan
 
Nolan Colby helped the Stags to a 5-0 week with wins over Canisus, NJIT and Army. He had a .350 batting average with seven hits and six RBI. Colby scored five runs while also being walked four times and stealing one base.
 
The 2025 MAAC Baseball Championship is an eight-team, single and double elimination championship, that will take place at Clover Stadium in Pomona, NY on May 20-24. Games 1 and 2 will be single elimination, games 3-12 will be double elimination and all rounds will reseed. This will be the fourth straight season that the championship is hosted at Clover Stadium.
