Daniel Velek, Quinnipiac, Men’s Tennis

Daniel Velek has helped lead the Bobcats to a 4-0 MAAC start at the No. 1 singles spot and has teamed up with James Lorenzetti at No. 2 doubles. In MAAC play, he has a 2-2 record at No. 1 singles while holding a 2-1 record in doubles.
Female Student-Athlete of the Week
Rachel Dean, Marist, Women’s Water Polo
Sr. / Auckland, New Zealand
Rachel Dean leads the Red Foxes water polo team in and out of the Pool. Dean, at Marist, is a double major in Chemistry and Applied Mathematics. Dean has been a part of the MAAC All-Academic Team and MAAC Academic Honor Roll every year she has been eligible, earning a 3.9 GPA. Dean has been a tutor at Marist in various subjects, as well as being a Dean’s List member for all seven semesters. Dean also won the Early Career Undergraduate Research Award from the Marist Math Department in Fall of 2024. In the pool, Dean has had a dominant season. In the past two weeks, Dean has tallied 14 goals for the Red Foxes. In that stretch, the Red Foxes went 8-1 and held an eight-match winning streak. Dean also recorded 15 assists in the nine matches for the Red Foxes.
