Player of the Week
Thomas Zwirecki, Canisius
R-So., East Amherst, NY, St. Joseph Collegiate Institute
Zwirecki was red hot at the plate last week, leading Canisius to a 3-1 week against Mount St. Mary's and St. Bonaventure. He hit .571 with a 1.429 slugging percentage with three home runs, 12 RBI, three doubles and seven runs scored. On Saturday, Zwirecki drove in five of the 10 runs for the Griffs with two homers and two doubles. He also walked four times throughout the week, leading to a .700 on-base percentage.
Pitcher of the Week
Brian Young, Rider
Sr., Neptune, NJ, Communication High School
Brian Young, delivered a dominant performance in Rider's series opener at Marist, pitching a complete game and allowing just two hits and no runs while striking out eight. Young's impressive performance improved his record to 7-0 on the season, leading the Broncs to a 7-0 victory in the opener.
Rookie of the Week
Charley Magoulic, Rider
Fr., Arnold, MD, Dematha
Charley Magoulick put together a huge week for the Broncs, starting with Rider’s midweek matchup against UPenn, where he went 3-for-4 at the plate and drove in four RBIs. Magoulick stayed hot going into the weekend series at Marist, recording at least one hit in every game. Magoulick capped off the series with a three-hit performance in the finale, including a go-ahead RBI single in the 12th inning that helped the Broncs secure a 9-5 win and complete the series sweep. Overall, Magoulick finished the week 8-for-16 with seven RBIs.
The 2025 MAAC Baseball Championship is an eight-team, single and double elimination championship, that will take place at Clover Stadium in Pomona, NY on May 20-24. Games 1 and 2 will be single elimination, games 3-12 will be double elimination and all rounds will reseed. This will be the fourth straight season that the championship is hosted at Clover Stadium.
