2021 MAAC Women’s Soccer Championship – Semifinal
Quinnipiac Soccer and Lacrosse Stadium | Hamden, CT

For the second time this season, the second-ranked Quinnipiac Bobcats (13-4, 7-3) and the defending MAAC Champion Siena Saints (9-9-1, 6-4 MAAC) will face off, but this time the winner moves on to the MAAC Championship Final.

In their previous matchup this season on October 16, Siena’s All-MAAC midfielder Emily McNelis scored in the fifth minute of the game, assisted by fellow senior Carrie Krohn. The score held and the Saints would ultimately prevail 1-0 over the Bobcats. McNelis and Krohn lead an experienced Saints squad that look to defend their 2020-21 title.

The last time these two teams met in the postseason, the Bobcats fell at the feet of McNelis and the Saints in the 2018 MAAC Quarterfinal Round. McNelis would score both goals in the 2-1 overtime thriller, but the Saints would eventually fall to the Monmouth Hawks in the MAAC Championship Final.

This will be Quinnipiac’s third straight season reaching the MAAC Championship Semifinal Round.  They look to rewrite the script and move on to the MAAC Championship Final for the first time since 2016.

The sixth-ranked Fairfield Stags (9-6-4, 5-4-1 MAAC) travel to West Long Branch, NJ to take on the top-ranked Monmouth Hawks (13-4-1, 8-1-1 MAAC) for a spot in the MAAC Championship Final.

In their previous meeting this season on October 6, Monmouth took down the Stags in a 1-0 double overtime thriller. Olivia Ramiz, a member of the 2021 All-MAAC Rookie Team scored the game-winner that ricocheted off of a Fairfield defender into the goal.

The last time these two teams met in the postseason was in the MAAC Championship Final back in 2019 when the Hawks defeated the Stags by a score of 6-0. 2021 First Team All-MAAC selection Jill Conklin scored once and 2021 All-MAAC Second Team selection Lauren Karabin scored twice in the victory.

Monmouth has reached the MAAC Championship Final in five-straight seasons, winning four MAAC Championship wins during that stretch.

Fairfield looks to get back to the Championship Final for the 12th time in program history and the first time since their 2019 loss to Monmouth.
