In the first match of the day, Niagara started off the day strong, with three first half goals and never looked back. Ida Miceli, was the first Purple Eagle to find the back of the net in the 20

No. 5 seeded Canisius upset No. 4 seeded Rider on the road in the second match of Opening Round action in the 2022 MAAC Women’s Soccer Championship. Rider got on the scoreboard first with a goal from, Lindsey Maslow, in the 12
th minute. Canisius remained scoreless until the 85
th minute when, Jen Romero, got the Griff’s on the board to bring things to a 1-1 tie. Regulation, and two overtime periods would end with the score still even at 1-1. Penalty kicks would decide the fate of the game in the end, with Canisius converting on four out of their five attempts, and Rider only converting on two.

- Canisius out shot Rider, 24-13, for the contest, boasting a 19-6 advantage over the final 65 minutes of action

The 2022 MAAC Women's Soccer Championship will take place from October 30 through November 6. The six-team, single-elimination championship will be hosted by the higher seed of each match.
