Fairfield Recap
Manhattan Recap

On a cold and rainy night, Fairfield poured in four goals from four different goal scorers in a 4-1 victory over Manhattan on Lessing Field. Maddie Mills, Maddy Theriault, Meghan Carragher, and Caroline Kelly all touched net for the Stags. Fairfield set a season-high with their four scores with all of them getting past Manhattan goalkeeper Kim Mains, who entered the match surrendering just four goals in 630 minutes for a 0.57 goals against average. As has been a theme all season, the Stags scored first as their scoring barrage started in the 24th minute when Mills received a pass from Elle Scott and used her right foot to launch it in the top corner of the net. Manhattan would draw even eight minutes later, but the Stags would quickly respond as Theriault took advantage of a bad pass from the defense and raced up the field and was able to convert her chance past the goalkeeper. Fairfield would extend their lead early in the second half, with another chance created by Theriault. The freshman would cross the ball into the middle of the box which would be redirected by Scott and find the right foot of Carragher who was able to loop the ball past the goalkeeper for her first collegiate goal. The Stags capped their scoring in the 70th minute when Kelly got her head on a service from Mills to put the score at 4-1. Fairfield would out-shoot Manhattan 21-7 with eight of those shots on target. Katie Wright would make two saves in the victory.

Iona Recap
Rider Recap

The Iona University women's soccer team defeated Rider, 1-0, at Ben Cohen Field on Wednesday night. Myla Rodrigues' scored her first collegiate goal, the decisive goal, off a corner early in the second half. The early portion of the match was contested in Iona's defensive third for a majority of time. Rider had five set-pieces from the corner in the opening 22 minutes of play, though only two shots were taken by the Broncs, neither on goal. Kedarjah Lewis had the only shot on goal during that 22-minute span, which was saved by Ellie Sciancalepore. Iona had its first chance from the corner in the 29th minute, but it did not lead to a shot. Over the course of the final 20-plus minutes of the first half, each side registered a shot on goal but each keeper was up to task and made the save. The match entered the half scoreless in New Jersey, though it would not be scoreless for much longer. Myla Rodrigues and the Gaels needed just 3:25 before finding the back of the net in the second half. A set-piece from the corner delivered by Emily Drake led to a punch out from Sciancalepore. The ball went straight into the air and off a bounce, Rodrigues volleyed a right-footed shot up over everyone, including Sciancalepore, just under the crossbar and into the net to give the Maroon & Gold the advantage. It was all the offense Iona needed, as Emma Havrilla made two more stops, including one with five minutes left to seal it for the Gaels.
