Siena Recap

Rebecca Cooke tallied four goals and led the Bobcats to a convincing 7-1 victory over the Siena Saints on Wednesday afternoon. Cooke now leads all of the NCAA with 14 goals on the season. The Bobcats move to 3-0 in MAAC play with the victory, outscoring league opponents 12-1 in their three wins so far this season. Quinnipiac outshot Siena, 30-10, and 18-8 in shots on goal. Quinnipiac's 18 shots on goal is the second most they have recorded in their Division I history.

Quinnipiac's scoring got started early as Markela Bejleri beat the defender and entered the edge of the box, beating the diving Siena goalkeeper to give the Bobcats a 1-0 lead in the eighth minute. A minute later, Olivia Scott passed the ball down to Courtney Chochol before returning the ball back to Scott; Scott found a streaking Cooke, who settled the ball down in the box before firing a shot into the left corner. In the 14th minute, Emely Van Der Vliet fired the ball down the far sideline to Chochol; Chochol ran the ball down to the bottom of the box before crossing it to Cooke in the box, who took her time before finding the back of the net. Seconds after Cooke's second goal, Chochol brought the ball into the box and crossed it to none other than Cooke, who took full advantage of the beautiful pass and netted her third goal within five minutes. In the 30th minute, Quinnipiac was gifted with a Siena turnover in Siena's defensive end. Ella Gagno took the ball, dribbled in a couple of steps before releasing a shot over the head of the leaping Siena goalkeeper to extend the Bobcats lead to five. Three minutes into the second half, Ana Carlos forced a Siena turnover and the ball found the feet of Chochol. Chochol saw a running Cooke and fed her a gorgeous pass in stride. Cooke sent a chip shot over the Siena goalkeeper for her fourth goal of the game and gave the Bobcats a six-goal lead. In the 51st minute, Ana Carlos and Kayla Mingachos had a give and go, where Carlos played the ball to Mingachos in open space. Mingachos dribbled the ball into the offensive third and fired a long range shot into the back of the goal.

Siena got on the board in the 68th minute, when Jess Knaub sent the corner kick into the box that found the feet of Caitlin Wania, and she sent the ball into the net.

Marist Recap

Saint Peter’s defeated Marist, 1-0, on Wednesday afternoon. Rookie Alyssa Hackett scored her first career goal in the contest as the Peacocks reached three wins on the year. That number matches their win total from the 2021 season. Goalkeeper Olivia Mackethan was called into action early, making her first save of the game in the eighth minute. Saint Peter's struck in the 32nd minute off of a long throw-in. Samantha Garcia took the throw from the right side line even with the 18 yard box, and threw a long ball that was headed on by Grassifulli. Her header found the foot of Hackett and, after a scramble in the box, she struck the ball with her left foot into the back of the net to put the Peacocks ahead. After both teams had attempts missed wide to start the half, Marist's best chance came in the 61st minute, as one of their players had a clear shot on target from just outside the box. Mackethan stopped the shot and corralled the rebound to avoid any danger.
