Fairfield scored three goals in the first half en route to a 3-1 victory over crosstown rival Sacred Heart at Lessing Field on Sunday. Elle Scott, Alex Darcy, and Allie Kirby touched net for the Stags, who won their fifth-straight home match. The Stags needed just four minutes to start their early scoring when Scott received a through ball from Maddy Theriault near the top of the box; with wide open space, Scott was able to dribble towards to left side of the goal and unleashed a shot that crossed past the keeper inside the bottom right corner of the net. Hannah Vogt then stole a pass in the Pioneers' defensive third and sent a tapped pass to a charging Darcy down the middle; the freshman found open space in the box and sent it past the keeper. The Stags would add their final goal in the closing minutes of the first half after earning a corner kick. Vogt sent the service inside the box where Reagan Klarmann was able to knock down the ball and send towards the corner of the goal; Angela Filosa then tapped a pass over to Kirby, who found the loose ball at the right corner and put in away. An own goal in the waning minutes gave Siena some life late, but it wasn't enough as the Saints fell 2-1 to Hartford. Brooke Boermeester made four saves for Siena, which suffered only its second defeat in its past 16 home matches (10-2-4) at Hickey Field. Siena held a 12-8 shot advantage and a 4-3 margin in corners while also holding the upper hand in possession, but couldn't capitalize. Meanwhile, Hartford took advantage of a rare opportunity in the 23rd minute, when a failed clear following a corner was booted in for an early Hartford goal. Trailing 2-0 late, the Saints eventually broke through in the 83rd minute as Annie Bagnall made a nifty interception in the attacking third and her centering pass was misdirected in by a Hartford defender to pull Siena within a goal with 7:24 remaining. However, the Saints wouldn't find the equalizer.
