Monmouth’s Bezborodov, Siena’s Suarez, Brown Earn Tennis Players of the Week

Dmitry Bezborodov went 3-0 overall with a pair of straight set singles victories and a doubles win. The wins came at No. 2 singles as Monmouth defeated Drexel (7-0) and Villanova (7-0) over the weekend. Monmouth improved to 5-0 in dual meets and extended its regular season winning streak to 15 straight matches.
 
Co-Men’s Tennis Player of Week
Agustin Suarez, Siena
Jr., Quito, Ecuador, Colegio Americano de Quito (Jacksonville State)
 
Suarez went a perfect 4-0 combined in doubles and singles play this week from the #3 singles and #2 doubles spots for Siena this weekend. He won both of his singles matches in straight games, while he took a 6-4 and 6-3 wins in doubles paired with Matt Nardone. The junior is now a combined 12-3 on the season for the Green and Gold.
 
Women’s Tennis Player of Week
Meagan Brown, Siena
Sr., Elk River, MN, Elk River
 
Brown went 2-0 in singles play and 1-1 in doubles play, both at the number one spot in the lineup this past week against Bucknell and Colgate. The senior is tied for the team lead in wins in both singles and doubles play this season.
