WEST LONG BRANCH, NJ – After winning its sixth consecutive MAAC Championship, the Monmouth University men's tennis team drew #14 Harvard in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
Monmouth will travel to Cambridge, Mass. on Friday to compete at the Beren Tennis Center. The Hawks have won 11 consecutive matches and their 20 victories are the most in a season in program history.
Monmouth had seven student-athletes earn all-conference recognition, with four Hawks earning multiple honors in singles and doubles play. Five different Hawks collected first team awards, including Niels Van Noord and Charlie Penman at No. 1 Doubles, Victor Castro and Trent Massam at No. 3 doubles and Lucca Silva at No. 4 singles. Chris Leicht was named MAAC Coach of the Year for the third straight season.
Harvard went undefeated with an 8-0 record at home this season en route to an 18-4 overall mark, including 7-0 in Ivy League play. The Crimson have won eight consecutive matches heading into the NCAA Tournament.
