10 MAAC Teams Garner ITA Academic Awards

EDISON, NJ (July 14, 2022) – The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) has announced the 2022 Division I Men’s and Women’s ITA Scholar-Athletes and All-Academic Teams, with 10 programs and 67 student-athletes representing the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC).
 
The 10 MAAC teams honored included Fairfield University men’s and women’s, Monmouth University men’s and women’s, Niagara University men’s and women’s, Quinnipiac University men’s and women’s, and Siena College men’s and women’s.
 
Individually, Monmouth men posted the most ITA Scholar-Athletes with 11, followed by eight each from Quinnipiac women and Siena men. Quinnipiac men followed with seven honorees, followed by six each from Fairfield men and women, and Siena women. Niagara men and women and Monmouth women each added five student-athletes to the list.

To be named an ITA Scholar-Athlete, one must meet the following requirements:
·       have a grade point average of at least 3.5 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year
·       be listed on the institutional eligibility form
To be named an ITA All-Academic Team, programs must meet the following requirements:
·       have a team grade point average of 3.2 or above (on a 4.00 scale),
·       all student-athletes included should be listed on the institutional eligibility form, and
·       all varsity letter winners should be factored into the cumulative team GPA for the current academic year
