Quinnipiac Sweeps MAAC Men’s & Women’s Tennis Weekly Awards

Men’s Player of the Week:
Carlos Braun Simo, Quinnipiac

Carlos Braun Simo won both of his matches in the home opener versus Hofstra on Saturday night, winning doubles with partner Finn Burridge 6-4 while also taking home his singles match at the #4 spot, 6-4, 7-5. The First Year also won his singles match at #4, on Sunday afternoon, defeating Walker Oberg of Yale 6-1, 3-6, 12-10.
  
Women’s Player of the Week:
Anagha Shankar, Quinnipiac

Anagha Shankar won both of her matches in the Bobcats home opener on Saturday night. She won her singles match at the #1 spot in straight sets 7-6(4), 6-3. She also won her doubles match at #2 spot 6-3.
 
The 2024 MAAC Men's & Women's Tennis Championships will take place on April 20-21 at Mercer County Park Tennis Center in West Windsor, NJ. The 2024 Championships will be the 12th consecutive time the event is held at Mercer County Park Tennis Center dating back to the 2012 MAAC Men's & Women's Tennis Championships. With 11 institutions strongly bound by the sound principles of quality and integrity in academics and excellence in athletics, the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) is in its 43rd year of competition during the 2023-24 academic year. Current conference members include: Canisius University, Fairfield University, Iona University, Manhattan College, Marist College, Mount St. Mary’s University, Niagara University, Quinnipiac University, Rider University, Saint Peter’s University, and Siena College. Merrimack College and Sacred Heart University will join the MAAC as full members in the 2024-25 academic year, expanding the conference to 13 institutions.
