Siena’s Zavala Salinas and Quinnipiac’s Renton Named Jersey Mike’s MAAC Tennis Weekly Award Winners

Men’s Player of the Week:
Emilio Zavala Salinas, Siena

Emilio Zavala Salinas teamed with Zino Varouhas-Poole to defeat the Merrimack pair of Morgan Donovan and Mateusz Gradski at the No. 1 doubles position 6-3 and then also won his No. 6 singles match against Valentin Riveros (M) 6-2, 6-1, as Siena won its conference opener over Merrimack 4-3 this past Saturday at Tri-City Center in Latham, NY. Zavala Salinas improved to 10-7 in singles play and 6-9 in individual doubles play for the season.
 
Women’s Player of the Week:
Willow Renton, Quinnipiac
Fr., Goshen, Kentucky, North Oldham High School
 
In her first MAAC match up this spring Willow Renton went 2-0 against Niagara, playing at the No. 1 spot for both singles and doubles. At No. 1 doubles, Renton teamed up with Caitlin Flower to win 6-2. She then won her match at No. 1 singles 7-6(5), 3-0, ret. over Niagara's Melo.
 
The 2025 MAAC Men's & Women's Tennis Championships are a six-team, single-elimination championships taking place on April 25-27 at Mercer County Park Tennis Center in West Windsor, NJ. The 2025 Championships will be the 13th consecutive time the event is held at Mercer County Park Tennis Center dating back to the 2012 MAAC Men's & Women's Tennis Championships.
