Quinnipiac’s Duo of Velek and Renton Sweep Jersey Mike’s MAAC Tennis Weekly Awards

Men’s Player of the Week:

This week Daniel Velek led QU to two more MAAC wins. He won both of No. 1 singles matches this past weekend and split his doubles matches. He defeated Merrimack's Gradski 6-4, 6-4 on Saturday before downing Rider's Tangri 6-2, 6-2 on Sunday afternoon. His 6-1 doubles win came over Martinez and Thurgur of Rider on Sunday afternoon for a 3-1 record on the week.
 
Women’s Player of the Week:
Willow Renton, Quinnipiac
FY., Goshen, Kentucky, North Oldham High School
 
In two home MAAC matches, Renton went 4-0 between No. 1 doubles and No. 1 singles without dropping a set to help QU move to 4-0 in MAAC play. She teamed up with Caitlin Flower to win their No.1 doubles match against Merrimack 6-1 and against Rider 6-2. In singles, Renton won her matches by scores of 6-2, 6-2 against Merrimack and 6-4, 6-2 against Rider.
 
The 2025 MAAC Men's & Women's Tennis Championships are a six-team, single-elimination championships taking place on April 25-27 at Mercer County Park Tennis Center in West Windsor, NJ. The 2025 Championships will be the 13th consecutive time the event is held at Mercer County Park Tennis Center dating back to the 2012 MAAC Men's & Women's Tennis Championships.
