Metro Tennis Masters set to get underway Friday

EDISON, NJ — The 2026 Metro Tennis Masters Tournament is set to begin Friday, Oct. 2, at the Quinnipiac Athletic & Recreation Center in Hamden, Connecticut. The tournament continues on Saturday, Oct. 3 and Sunday, Oct. 4.

Now in its third year, the Metro Masters is a single-elimination tournament featuring men's and women's singles and doubles. The champion of each of the four brackets earn the Metro's automatic qualifier (AQ) to the ITA Conference Masters Championships, set for Nov. 5-8 in Rome, Georgia. From that field, four student-athletes will qualify for the NCAA men's and women's singles tournaments, and three doubles teams will earn spots in the NCAA men's and women's doubles tournaments.

Singles matches will be best of three sets, with a 10-point tiebreaker used in the third set. The top eight singles seeds were set by verified World Tennis Number as of Sept. 24, and the rest of the draw was determined randomly. Doubles matches will be one set to six games. The top four doubles teams were seeded by each pair's combined verified WTN as of Sept. 24, and the remaining positions were drawn randomly. There will be one play-in match in the women's bracket and two in the men's bracket.

The top eight seeds in women's singles are No. 1 Ava Nelson (Sacred Heart), No. 2 Willow Renton (Quinnipiac), No. 3 Caterina Assi (Marist), No. 4 Caitlin Flower (Quinnipiac), No. 5 Isabella Garcia Torra (Niagara), No. 6 Regina Herrera (Fairfield), No. 7 Ola Irla Bartyzel (Sacred Heart) and No. 8 Anna Neyestani (Fairfield).

The top eight seeds in men's singles are No. 1 Alejandro Abella Fernandez (Marist), No. 2 Diego Alcala (Fairfield), No. 3 Vishal Prakash (Quinnipiac), No. 4 Stefanos Pournaropoulos (Mount St. Mary's), No. 5 Kacper Krolikowski (Fairfield), No. 6 Alexi Roy (Mount St. Mary's), No. 7 Mateja Stefanovic (Siena) and No. 8 Elias Hoxha (Quinnipiac).

The top four seeds in women's doubles are No. 1 Willow Renton and Caitlin Flower (Quinnipiac), No. 2 Ola Irla Bartyzel and Olivia Zuba (Sacred Heart), No. 3 Maria Gell and Victoria Mandama (Fairfield) and No. 4 Sophia Harris and Anna Neyestani (Fairfield).

The top four seeds in men's doubles are No. 1 Finn Burridge and Elias Hoxha (Quinnipiac), No. 2 Stefanos Pournaropoulos and Sergei Likhogrud (Mount St. Mary's), No. 3 Thomas Bevan and Ethan Hirons (Marist) and No. 4 Alexi Roy and Nikolaos Fotios Makris (Mount St. Mary's).
