Men’s Player of the Week
Ian Layton, Marist

Sophomore Ian Layton played a key role in a pair of Marist victories, helping the Red Foxes to wins over Loyola Maryland and Mount St. Mary’s. Layton teamed with freshman Alejandro Abella Fernandez to secure 6-4 victories at No. 3 doubles in both matches, including the clinching point in the 4-1 win over Mount St. Mary’s. In singles, Layton delivered a dominant 6-2, 6-1 victory at No. 2 in Marist’s 4-0 sweep of Loyola Maryland.
Men’s Rookie of the Week
Stefanos Pournaropolous, Mount St. Mary’s
Fr., Thessaloniki, Greece, Hellenic College Of Thessalonik
Pournaropolous went 2-0 in singles play and 1-1 in doubles action for the Mount this week. Playing at the No. 2 spot in the lineup, Pournaropolous earned straight set wins over Loyola's Loouis Moldenhauer (6-3, 6-4) and Marist's Alejandro Abella Fernandez (6-3, 6-1). In doubles action, he teamed with Nikos Makris for a 6-1 win over Loyoa's Cyrus Shivkumar and Nick Lawliss at the No. 1 spot. He helped the Mount to a 1-1 week, with a win over Loyola and a loss to Marist.
Women’s Player of the Week
Caterina Assi, Marist
Jr., Rosario, Santa Fe, Argentina, Saint Bartholomew’s School
Junior Caterina Assi went undefeated at No. 1 singles across two matches for the Red Foxes, earning a 6-4, 6-1 victory in a 4-0 sweep of Loyola Maryland and a 6-3, 6-3 win at Mount St. Mary’s..
Women’s Rookie of the Week
Anna Barlini, Mount St. Mary’s
Fr., Carbonia, Italy, I.I.S. Gramsci Amaldi Carbonia
Barlini went 2-0 in singles action for the Mount at the No. 6 spot in the lineup. In a 4-3 win over Loyola, she earned a 6-3, 6-2 win over Lily Langhus. Barlini then tallied a 6-0, 6-3 win over Marist's Tessa Wachtel in the Mount's 4-2 victory over the Red Foxes. Barlini teamed with Emma Perkins for a 6-2 win over Marist's Vihana Shresta and Caterina Assi to help secure the doubles point in the Mount's 4-2 win.
The 2026 MAAC Men's & Women's Tennis Championships are a four-team, single-elimination championships taking place on April 25-26 at Mercer County Park Tennis Center in West Windsor, NJ. The 2026 Championships will be the 14
